My local church

My new local church in Macau - Christian Shein Tao Church. If you want to, you can visit our webpage at http://www.macauccc.org/, but it's all in Chinese. And I think it's the largest church here, in terms of branches, total of 14 branches. And the one I am attending is the HQ.

Yes, it's a Chinese speaking church, Cantonese to be precise. Well, they do have Mandarin translation too.... I am now getting use to Chinese sermons after all these years I've been listening to English sermons.....and it's one way to improve my Cantonese as well....hope I will be able to pray in Cantonese soon, so that I can pray for others here.....

Hmmm.... the teaching is good, mostly focus on God & grace..... but it's a bit traditional....I mean they only have an organ for praise & worship.....and we are to sit down during the praise & worship;-0 (by the way, the choirs sings heavenly!!!) also they do not pray in tongue...... but then....oh well...i believe those are just secondary...most important I can grow through the teachings, I mean it does minister to me....

Have not join any home cell yet....hope to join one soon.....

"One World, One Dream"

Beijing Olympics 2008 is officially open!

I watched the open ceremony in church..... yes, big screen plus food... and atmosphere was good: the cheering... the clapping of hands etc..... feel like in the standium...hehe...

The ceremony was very spectacular! very creative! breathtaking! Especially the last part, the litting up of the Olympics flame.... very "kong fu" - the man was like in the movie of "Grouching Tiger Hidden Dragon"... spacewalking on the wall.... well, the movie director & this ceremony director is the same guy!!

This event has made all the Chinese around the world proud!!!

Fisherman's Wharf

Macau Fisherman's Wharf - one of the tourist attraction here, hmm.....well, the locals hang out here as well.

This place is like a town itself... a convention hall in a pyramid, a amusement park in a volcano, a sport center in a olden Rome style sport center..(can't remember the word for it..), international eatery outlets in rows of different country's architecture i.e Portuguese style, American style, European style etc... shopping arcade, a hotel, a casino....etc etc... ya, quite a large place.....

Why I like this place because it's waterfront....yes, you can dine by the sea!!!

Will go back there on of these day during daytime to take more pictures to share......

Well, not really good at describing it, check out the photos yourself......

By the way, the weather has cool down a lot the last few days....thank God!

Beijing 2008

This year Olympics will be held in Beijing. And Olympics fever is in the air.... exhibitions & mascots are all around town.....

Beijing 888 - 8/8/2008! (nice number huh? Well, Chinese loves number 8, it means prosperity!)

Too bad I didn't manage to go Beijing...so near yet so far (sigh!) China has since stop issuing visa to foreigners now.... I sure would like to go Olympics once in my life time...well, may be next Olympic in London then.....

The Ruins of St.Paul

It's HOT, HOT, HOT here.... 35 degree celsius today! Walking outdoor is like walking in oven, hot waves plus hot sun. Oh my, when is autumn coming please?

Anyway, I went sightseeing with Gigi (my Malaysian friend) the other day... HOT day too!

Picture 1: Popular tourist attraction in Macau - Ruins of St.Paul Church. It was ruined by a fire, only left the front part.

Picture 2: "When a Portuguese man met a Chinese woman". Ha, the history started with a love story, how romantic!

Picture 3: A shot from St.Paul.

Picture 4: View of the famous New Grand Lisboa Hotel from St. Paul.

Picture 5: Museum of Macau. But, it was closed that day, so didn't manage to go in, hehe....

The Venetian

I was in Venice..... just kidding!!! I was in the latest Resort World in town called - Venetian, by it's name, you can tell it's a "fake" Venice (lol).... big project, I must said. Hotel + casino + shopping mall....it's huge!! (sorry for my earlier post saying there is no mega shopping mall here... well, this is one huge shopping mall here!)

I been to "real" Venice and took the gondola ride before, so I didn't take the gondola ride this time; besides i think the "feel" is different.... i mean indoor gondola ride is so...unromantic!!

Met a Singaporean friend there, he is the resident manager there now.... small world!

Four Season Hotel is coming up next to Venetian. Macau is booming! Internationally, I hope. Because now most of the tourist is from mainland China......
**Note: only picture 1 is outdoor, the rest of the pictures are indoor.

Birthday Karaoke

Attended one of my colleague's birthday, she is a local. Apparently the favorites night life for the locals is karaoke... hmm... not exactly my cup of tea. There is "bar street" here, favorites hang out area, but don't be fooled by the street name, because you can't find a bar here, but lots of karaoke!! Wonder how the name came from??

Picture 1: From the left, the cute girl wearing pink, she is another colleague - Gigi and she is a Malaysian too, from Sabah also.... and she is my partner for whatever, we always goes out together now.... The pretty girl in the middle is the birthday girl - Maggie, doesn't she looks a bit mixed blood? but she said she is pure Chinese.....

Picture 2: Dice game - it's a must game for karaoke.... guess it's the marketing strategy to boost more alcohol sales; because whoever lose the game got to bottoms up!! Hmmm... it is not gambling, but it is a game they called it : "liar" game, kind of like if you are good in lying and you can make the other players believe you then you will win the game...something like that....
